SOWAS - Self-Oriented Scientific Work In Studies

In the SOWAS-F practical course, students can choose from several blocks (solid state, nuclear, plasma, astro).
In the field of  plasma physics the following topics are currently offered:

• Differences between plasmas in atomic and molecular gases
• Comparison of capacitively and inductively coupled plasmas (CCP x ICP)
• Effect of gas impurities on the performance of low temperature plasmas
• Reactive plasma sputtering
• Distribution functions in low temperature plasmas
   

The tools, diagnostics and methods used are

• Langmuir-Probe
• Compact spectrometer
• Phase Resolved Optical Emission Spectroscopy (PROES)
• Mass spectrometry
• Ellipsometer
• Profilometer
